Fly control, like that of all other pests of hygienic-sanitary concern, must follow an Integrated Pest Management approach to ensure a safe result in containing this pest. Today, we focus on a species-specific product for controlling adult forms in a granular formulation, Advion® Fly Bait Granules.
The active ingredient in Advion® Fly Bait Granules, Indoxacarb (0.00796%), works differently compared to traditional active ingredients (including pyrethroids). The active ingredient is bioactivated by the insect’s enzymes, binding to the sodium channel and blocking it, which leads to a rapid cessation of feeding, paralysis, and death of the insect.
Additionally, Advion® Fly Bait Granules is not repellant in any way and does not show cross-resistance with other molecules. Another important feature is that Advion® Fly Bait Granules is a Biocidal product (PT18) authorized under registration number IT/2021/000708/MRP, and is designed to be placed in appropriate bait dispensers.
Based on Risk Mitigation Measures, dispensers or Bait Stations have been developed to allow the use of 40 grams of product per bait point for every 20 m² (2g/m²), to be placed at height (for safety from non-target animals and children) and tamper-proof, even when located in outdoor areas.
Specifically designed for indoor areas, it is made of yellow polypropylene and measures 190x163x255 (h) cm. It features a rectangular parallelepiped structure with an internal surface that ensures the correct distribution of 40 grams of product. Thanks to the honeycomb walls, maximum exposure of Advion® Fly Bait Granules is ensured, preventing bait from being “hidden” and allowing for easy evaluation of the remaining quantity. Naturally, the base of the Bait Station has a convex surface that prevents product spillage onto the ground. It also includes a steel support at the top of the dispenser station, allowing for easy installation at height.
