The Ministry of Health issued the ordinance of ’8 August 2025 “Provisions on the prohibition of the use and possession of poisoned bait or bait”, to combat the phenomenon of poisoning of non-target species. Among the provisions set forth in the ordinance, which focuses primarily on the repression of malicious poisoning of domestic and wild animals, which unfortunately occurs very frequently in rural areas and beyond, are some that must be observed during disinfestation and rodent control activities.
Several comments and statements have been published regarding the innovations introduced by the ordinance. However, a comparison of the newly issued ordinance with the one in force since 2019 (Ordinance of 12 July 2019), later extended on several occasions, reveals that these provisions have remained unchanged. In the article regarding pest control activities (Article 6), the new ordinance follows, word for word, the text of the corresponding article (Article 2) of the 2019 one.
