Biosecurity in livestock farming: Colkim and Syngenta at Giornata della Suinicoltura 2026

We are pleased to once again take part in the Giornata della Suinicoltura, this year alongside our partner Syngenta. During this important opportunity for discussion and professional update dedicated to industry operators, we will share experiences and promote best practices focused on biosecurity and animal welfare, key elements for ensuring production efficiency and sustainability in livestock farming.

Colkim and Syngenta: a winning partnership

In the pest management sector, innovation and continuous improvement often stem from strategic collaborations: the partnership between Colkim and Syngenta is a clear example. This synergy, built on expertise, technology, and reliability, provides pest control professionals with solutions that are increasingly effective, safe, and aligned with market needs.

Flies and rodents: a serious risk for animal welfare and farm productivity

In pig farming, the main pests that affect animal welfare are flies and rodents. To safeguard hygiene, animal health, and farm productivity, it is essential to keep these harmful pests under control.

Flies represent one of the major challenges. Attracted by odors, organic matter, and favorable environmental conditions, these small pests can cause stress to animals and act as vectors of pathogens, contributing to the spread of viral and bacterial diseases. Since they find ideal conditions for establishment, their reproductive capacity is extremely high: a single fly can lay up to 150–300 eggs, leading to new populations within just a few weeks.

Rodents also pose a significant threat to the swine sector. In this case as well, mice are attracted by the abundant availability of food within farms, as well as the warmth and shelter provided by facilities. Finding an ideal environment for proliferation, rodents multiply rapidly, increasing the risk of feed contamination, disease transmission, and structural damage.

For this reason, it is essential to integrate pest control strategies by combining preventive measures, continuous monitoring, and targeted interventions using specific products. Effective pest management directly contributes to meeting regulatory standards and evaluation systems such as ClassyFarm, while improving animal welfare and farm sustainability.

Four products to control pests in livestock farming

To effectively address potential infestations in pig farms, it is essential to rely on industry professionals equipped with a range of professional products specifically designed for the management of flies and rodents.
