Professional Rodent Control: Tier 1 Bait Stations and Smart Traps

Rodent infestations pose a serious threat to food production companies and food production plants, with consequences that go far beyond the safety of the product.

Rodent prevention and monitoring: how to protect facilities

Rodents are responsible for damage to structures, gnawing on packaging and electrical cables, and leaving liquid and solid waste on surfaces, jeopardizing sanitation and the safety of production plant systems. Even a small infestation can result in high costs, image damage, product loss and customer distrust.

Rodent protection begins with the adoption of good exclusion measures to prevent rodents from entering the facility. Sealing cracks and holes, closing spaces under doors, are simple examples of behaviors to implement before mapping the environment for the correct positioning of monitoring stations.

Bell bait stations: Tier 1 Certified Safety

Bell laboratories, a world leader in rodent control technology, produces the highest quality rodenticides, tamper-evident bait dispensers, and other rodent control products.

Thanks to rigorous testing, carried out by Bell in collaboration with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, some of its bait stations have been classified Tier 1, representing the highest level of safety, security, and reliability.

These tests ensure that the bait stations are:

  • Weatherproof
  • Tamper-proof by children and pets
  • Usable both indoors and outdoors

In particular, one of the most stringent tests involved 12 large dogs, under active interaction conditions, ensuring inaccessibility to the placebo bait contained in the station for at least 2 hours.

Today Bell offers a wide range of advanced bait dispensers, designed to ensure safety, effectiveness and adaptability to various professional rodent control needs. Bell dispensers with Tier 1 safety level are:

iQ Technology: Smart and effective mouse traps

New technologies are transforming the work of pest control, making it safer, faster, and more effective. With Bell Sensing iQ , the technology integrated into Bell traps and bait stations, you can monitor rodent activity, both inside and outside buildings.

Thanks to Bluetooth® connectivity , technicians can remotely check the traps’ operation or estimate rodent traffic at bait stations. In this way, technicians avoid cramped or hard-to-reach spaces when checking monitoring stations, making each intervention easier and quicker .

On the dedicated web portal it is possible to:

  • get metrics and analytics ;
  • data on catches and bait consumption ;
  • report of technicians’ interventions.

With iQ, planning and optimizing inspections becomes easier for pest control professionals.

Focus: where to place bait stations for rodent control

Proper placement of bait stations is essential to ensure effective monitoring and ongoing protection against infestations. Strategic mapping of the environment allows for timely detection of rodent activity and intervention before damage occurs.

Here are some guidelines for optimal positioning:

  • External perimeter of the building: place the bait station along the perimeter, particularly near access points such as doors, windows, system duct connections and ventilation grilles;
  • Loading and unloading areas: high-traffic areas, such as loading bays, are particularly vulnerable to rodent entry;
  • Technical rooms and systems: electrical panels, heating plants and elevator shafts are environments favourable to entry and nesting;
  • Warehouses and storage areas: shelving, pallets and storage areas provide shelter and marginal nesting sites;
  • Production and packaging areas: it is essential to protect production lines to avoid contamination;
  • False ceilings, cavities and air shafts: marginal spaces that are difficult to inspect where rodents can move undisturbed.
